1. Create your account
Go to knotdo.app/register and request beta access. During the beta period you'll need an invite code — check your email if you were invited, or join the waitlist and we'll send one when space opens up.
Once your code is accepted, set a strong password and confirm your email address. That's it — no credit card required.
2. Set up your workspace
After logging in, you'll land in your default workspace. A workspace is a shared space where all your lists and tasks live. Solo users typically have one workspace; teams may have multiple.
Give your workspace a name that reflects your context — your name, your company, or your project. You can rename it at any time in Workspace Settings.
3. Create your first list
Click + New List in the sidebar. Give your list a name and optionally choose a color and icon. Lists are the top-level containers for tasks — think of them like folders.
Good list names: Work, Personal, Q3 Roadmap, Grocery, Reading List.
Each list can have its own default view (List, Kanban, Gantt, or Calendar) — set this in the list's settings after creation.
4. Add and organize tasks
Click inside a list and hit N or click + Add task to create your first task. Type the title and press Enter.
Open a task by clicking it to add:
- Notes — full markdown support
- Due date — click the calendar icon
- Priority — None, Low, Medium, High, or Urgent
- Subtasks — unlimited nesting
- Tags — color-coded labels across all lists
5. Install KnotDo as a PWA
KnotDo works best when installed to your device — it runs like a native app, loads instantly, and works fully offline.
Desktop (Chrome, Edge): Look for the install icon (⊕) in your browser's address bar and click "Install KnotDo."
iOS (Safari): Tap the Share button → Add to Home Screen → tap Add. The app appears on your home screen like any other app.
Android (Chrome): Tap the three-dot menu → Add to Home Screen → confirm.
Once installed, KnotDo loads from your device, not the network — so it opens instantly and works on planes, in basements, or anywhere with spotty Wi-Fi. See Working Offline for the full details.
